The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh has reserved 80 beds for the treatment of Covid 19 patients. The recent spurt in the number of cases of the disease has reflected in the increased number of patients admitted in the institute.

The Dean of AIIMS Hospital Administration, Dr U B Mishra said that during the last one week a three-fold increase in the number of Covid-19 patients has occurred.

“On April 1 we had 16 patients of the disease which has now increased to 57. These include 20 beds with ICU facilities. This number will be increased if the need arises,’’ he said. Dr Mishra informed that the speed of Covid-19 sampling has also picked up in the last week for the test.

The PRO of the AIIMS Rishikesh Harish Thapliyal said that special guidelines have been received by the Central and State governments in the case of Covid-19 infection. “In compliance with this, the time of OPD in AIIMS has been reduced to prevent Covid infection. The registration time in the  OPD was from 8 am to 12 am. Now the registration of OPD patients will be done till 11 am instead of 12 noon,’’ he said.
