Various decisions were taken in the meeting of the cabinet presided over by the chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat here on Monday. Informing the media about the decisions taken in the meeting, cabinet minister and state government spokesman Subodh Uniyal said that the cabinet approved the decision to facilitate free Covid vaccination to those in the 18-45 years age group.
The state will bear about Rs 450 crore expense on free vaccination of about 50 lakh people in the said age group. In order to ensure timely supply of vaccine in the state, the director general of medical health and medical education have been authorised. The industry secretary Sachin Kurve has been given the responsibility of facilitating vaccine availability. Provision for cent per cent advance payment has been made for ensuring adequate supply of Remdesivir injections. This process has been kept free of bank guarantee, earnest money and such official formalities. The amount of fine imposed on those not wearing masks in public places has been increased from Rs 500 to Rs 700. Further, the cabinet also decided to grant service extension to 479 outsourced personnel working in government medical colleges.
The base hospital and Baba Barfani hospital set up for the Haridwar Kumbh Mela will be maintained as they are for now. The doctors and other personnel appointed on contract basis in the health department will be kept as in the past. The cabinet also decided that in the places where the curfew has been implemented, it should be enforced strictly. It was also decided that during the Covid curfew, media persons will be allowed movement for work on showing their Press card. Further, the cabinet decided to form a committee under cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi with the additional chief secretary (personnel) and finance secretary as members in order to resolve the issues of the UPNL outsourced workers. Under the three-tier Panchayat system, the district Panchayat and directorate structure was approved along with approval to 570 posts. Uniyal further informed that the cabinet has appealed to the people of Uttarakhand to wear masks, maintain social distancing and venture out from homes only if and when necessary. Public awareness and participation of the citizens is essential to win the fight against Covid, the cabinet opined.
