Govt will take forward efforts for State’s all round development- Rawat
On completion of his 100 days in office, chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat listed his major achievements especially the works done to tackle the Covid-19 situation in the state. He said that the state is now fully prepared for a third wave if it happens. Rawat also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured him that there is no dearth of resources for Uttarakhand. The chief minister said this while addressing the media after releasing a publication brought out by the Information and Public Relations department to list the state government’s achievements during its 100 days in office so far.
Speaking on the occasion, Rawat recalled that after taking oath of office on March 10 he directed various measures and decisions to tackle the Covid-19 situation in the state. “I too became Covid positive but continued to work virtually while under isolation. The State government took various decisions based on the opinion of the public. We organised the Kumbh Mela and did away with development authorities in rural mountainous areas where they were impractical and causing problems for the citizens.” Referring to the second wave of Covid, Rawat said that none had imagined the second wave would be so serious. However, reviewing the status of facilities ascertained that the state has achieved a nine to 11 times increase in ICUs, oxygen supported beds and other facilities for treatment of Covid patients in about three months. “We now have oxygen generation plants in all district hospitals and are doing the same for community health centres. One prays that the third wave will not come but if it does, the state is fully prepared,” said Rawat.
Recalling his recent visit to the national Capital the chief minister said that he had met the President, Prime Minister and a number of Union ministers to discuss various issues pertaining to Uttarakhand. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured me that there is no dearth of resources for Uttarakhand. In my interactions with the union ministers, the state received something from each ministry. A number of important decisions were taken and the resultant works will be visible on the ground in a couple of months. The State government will take the all round development of the state forward,” he said.
Cabinet ministers Subodh Uniyal, Ganesh Joshi, MLAs Vinod Chamoli, Harbans Kapoor, Rajkumar Thukral, Umesh Sharma, Khajan Das and others were also present on the occasion.
