Putting the responsibility of the Covid-19 test scam during Kumbh Mela in Haridwar at the doorstep of Bharatiya Janata Party and its leaders, the Uttarakhand Congress has claimed that the owner of the company involved in the scam has close links with BJP leaders.

The spokesperson of the Uttarakhand Congress, Garima Dasauni also released a series of pictures in which Sharat Pant the owner of the Max Corporate Services is seen with top central and state leaders of the BJP. Max Corporate Services was awarded contract of the Covid-19 tests in Kumbh in Haridwar and is under scanner for the scam believed to be worth several Crores of Rupees. Dasauni said that Mallika Pant, the wife of Sharat Pant is also the co-owner of the company involved in the scam. She added that Pant happens to be the nephew of Bhuwan Joshi who is the PA of the union parliamentary affairs minister. The Congress leader alleged that Pant got the contract due to the relationship with Joshi and proximity with the BJP leaders. She said that the pictures with top leaders of the BJP prove that Pant was very close to them and due to their patronage he was able to do a scam of this proportion.

“The manner in which the government and administration went into a sleep after awarding work of testing to the company and never bothered to monitor its work proves that Pant and his company were deliberately given a free hand to play with the health and lives of the people of Uttarakhand. The government of Uttarakhand should seek an unconditional apology for spreading the contagion of Covid -19,’’ she said. Dasauni added that the Kumbh test scam has tainted the image of Uttarakhand and for it the people of the state would not forgive the double engine government of BJP.
