UP ATS busts al-Qaeda module in Lucknow; 2 terrorists held

In a big operation, the Anti Terror Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh police claimed to have cracked a terror module by arresting two terrorists of the Ansar-Ghazwa Tul-Hind (AGH), a wing of the Al Qaeda, in Lucknow on Sunday.

Both the terrorists are trained and were being handled by a Pakistani national Omar hul-Mandi who operated from the Pakistan/Afghanistan Border, police claimed.

Omar is assigned with the task to recruit members for the Al Qaeda and radicalise them. He had formed a module of the Al Qaeda in Lucknow.       

The terrorist group was planning big explosions in Lucknow and other areas of the State Capital especially crowded areas, memorials and other tourist places and also planning to use human bombs in the State Capital during or before the Independence Day functions on August 15.
