Centre grants Rs 615.48 crore for 42 roads in U’khand

Road connectivity has improved vastly in last seven years- CM Dhami

In what can be termed as pre pre-election gift to Uttarakhand, the Union government has sanctioned a sum of Rs 615.48 crore to Uttarakhand for broadening, construction of bridges and maintaining 42 roads. The amount has been released by the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) of the Union transport and highways ministry. Addressing the media persons at the state secretariat here on Friday, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the roads are the life line for all round development as they give a fillip to the economy. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and surface transport minister Nitin Gadkari for it. The CM informed that the CRIF had given a sum of Rs 614.85 crore from the year 2000 to 2017 but in the last four years it has approved Rs  1124.25 crore to Uttarakhand. He said that the connectivity between different cities of the state and from important places to Delhi have vastly improved in the last seven years. “ The work on All weather road, Bharat Mala projects and Rishikesh- Karnprayag rail link is going on at a fast pace,’’ he said. The CM informed that central government’s clearance for proposals worth Rs 32000 crore for construction of roads in the state have been received  . It includes Rs 12000 crore elevated four lane road connecting Delhi with Dehradun.

He said that the roads are very important for all round development and their relevance is more in a state like Uttarakhand which is predominantly mountainous.

State to create 1 lakh self employment opportunities

The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the employment opportunities in the government sector are limited and in such a condition more and more self employment opportunities should be created. He said that he has directed different departments to create at least 1 lakh employment opportunities by working in tandem with different banks. On the question of opening of schools, Dhami said that the decision has been taken after due deliberation and keeping in mind the future of the children.
