CM Dhami takes stock of disaster affected area

Following the disaster which occurred late on Sunday night claiming seven lives at Jumma village in Dharchula area of Pithoragarh district, chief minister Pushkar Singh visited the affected area on Tuesday. He interacted with the affected persons and the officials handling the rescue and relief efforts in the area. He also conducted an aerial survey of the affected area to get a larger view of the devastation caused by the disaster.
Dhami presented cheques of Rs four lakh each to the affected families while stating that a sum of Rs one lakh each will be presented to each bereaved family from the CM financial relief fund. He assured the disaster affected that the government is with them in these difficult circumstances, while adding that all possible assistance will be provided to them.
Dhami later met the locals of Dharchula and interacted with them regarding local issues.
He also interacted with the disaster affected families from Naugaon area of Dharchula and directed the district magistrate to do the needful for them. He averred that a geological survey will be conducted in the area and necessary safety works will be executed. He also said that the helicopter service for the region has been extended for a month and if needed, it will be extended further. He said that the administration will be directed to act upon approving the Rs 42 crore proposal for embankments prepared by irrigation department along Kali river in Dharchula. Apart from natural disasters, he also pointed out that Covid-19 has not ended and appealed to the people to properly follow the Covid protocol.MP Ajay Tamta, district magistrate Ashish Chauhan, superintendent of police Sukhbir Singh and others were also present during the chief minister’s visit.
