Employee associations start phased protest

In support of their various demands, different employee organisations of Uttarakhand started their agitation on Monday under the banner of Uttarakhand Officers, Employees, Teachers coordination committee. On the first day of the phased agitation, the employees held gate meetings at headquarters of irrigation and Public Works Department (PWD) on Monday.
The spokesperson of the coordination committee, Arun Pandey said that various organisations have come under one banner and have included their demands which are pending from years. He said that the officers, employees and teachers have great expectations from the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami because is associated with grass roots but there is a fear that the officers having anti employee mindset can mislead him.
The coordination committee is demanding that old pattern of giving higher scales on completion of 10,16 and 26 years of service should be given to the employees. It also wants that the disparities affecting the Golden Health card scheme should be removed and the scheme should be operated on the lines of Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS). The employees are demanding payment of 11 per cent of Dearness Allowance (DA), relaxation in the process of promotions and restoration of old pension scheme.
The speakers during the gate meetings warned that the if the issues raised by the coordination committee are not solves then things can perpetuate into a major labour unrest in Uttarakhand. They demanded that the government should convene a meeting of the coordination committee without any delay.
The employees would hold gate meetings at Vikas Bhawan, offices of social welfare, employment exchange and ITI on Tuesday.
