Shaheed Samman Yatra to commence from Oct first week- CM

With an eye on the ex-servicemen voters which constitute an influential vote bank, the BJP government would embark upon a ‘Shaheed Samman Yatra in the first week of October. On Monday, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the officials to complete all preparations for the Yatra. He said that the route chart of the Yatra would be prepared soon. Dhami said that Uttarakhand is a state where the armed forces personnel and their families reside in good numbers and soldiers have never hesitated to lay down their lives for the country. He said that the Yatra would be a grand affair and would be held for paying respects to the martyrs. The CM also presided over a high level meeting at his camp office to discuss the proposed ‘Sainya Dham’. He said that a time bound programme for construction of the memorial should be prepared. He said that the Sainya Dham would be made grand and suggested that martyrs’ memorials of different states should be visited for ideas relating to Sainya Dham in Uttarakhand. He said that a handful of earth would be taken from the households of the martyred soldiers during the proposed Shaheed Samman Yatra. The CM added that the Sainya Dham would be a symbol of valour and bravery of the soldiers of the state.
The Sainik Kalyan Minister Ganesh Joshi, chief secretary S S Sandhu, additional chief secretary Anand Bardhan, principal secretary L Fainai, secretary Amit Negi, V Shanmugam, Major General ( Retd) Sammi Sabharwal, district magistrate (DM) of Dehradun and others officers were present in the meeting.
