The Dehradun police have nabbed one of the culprits accused of the murder of a 28-year old man in the Vikasnagar area. On Wednesday, two men robbed and stabbed a man near a petrol pump in Vikasnagar. After the complaint of the petrol pump workers, police arrived at the scene and took the victim to the nearest hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
The Dehradun senior superintendent of police (SSP) Janmejaya Khanduri formed four teams to investigate the matter. During the investigation, the police found the footage of the culprits caught on the nearby CCTV cameras of the location. On the basis of the footage, the police found out that both culprits belong to the Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh.
The police informed that one of the accused, 19-year old Sahir, was nabbed from Saharanpur Road within 24 hours with the victim’s mobile phone and some money. The police said that he revealed during the investigation that the other culprit named Sagar Rana alias Lucky Rana, is wanted in another murder case in Shamli along with his other two partners Ayush Rana and Raj Goswami. These three went missing after the said murder was carried out in Shamli and called Sahir after which they all visited places including Chandigarh and Ambala, as per the police.
Sahir informed that while the other two men returned to Shamli, he and Lucky Rana came to Vikasnagar as UP police were still searching for the latter, stated the police. The police informed that the accused said that they stayed in a hotel for three days in the area but since his partner needed more money to stay hidden from the police, they decided to rob a motorcycle rider. The police said that as per the caught accused, when they caught a man to rob, he resisted due to which the culprits hit him with the helmet and then Lucky Rana stabbed him multiple times. They had to leave on foot when the petrol pump workers started approaching them after hearing the victim’s screams, the police stated. The police are searching for another culprit and gathering information about other crimes committed by them.
