Suraj Kunwar Shah cremated in Rishikesh

The mortal remains of the Suraj Kunwar Shah, the erstwhile Queen of Tehri Garhwal was cremated at Muni Ki Reti ghat on River Ganga on Monday. Large number of people belonging to all sections of the society attended her funeral and paid their respects to the departed soul.
The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami offered floral tributes to the Shah and expressed his condolences to the grieving erstwhile ruling family. The former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat and Tirath Singh Rawat, speaker of Uttarakhand assembly Prem Chand Agarwal, cabinet ministers Dhan Singh Rawat, Subodh Uniyal and others attended the funeral.
Suraj Kunwar Shah (98) breathed her last in New Delhi on Saturday. Her husband, late Manvendra Shah was an eight-time MP from Tehri Garhwal parliamentary seat. At present, her daughter-in-law Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah is an MP from the same parliamentary seat.
