Eight trekkers and three locals are reported to be missing in Uttarkashi district on Wednesday. The sources informed that seven trekkers belonging to West Bengal and one to Delhi who had started their trek on October 11 from Harsil in Uttarkashi to Chitkul in Himachal Pradesh are missing. The local trekking agency that had arranged the trekking for the trekkers informed the district disaster management department on Wednesday about the missing people after which the authorities started the rescue operation. The search was started by the SDRF (State Disaster Relief Force) personnel with a chopper but no missing person was found till late Wednesday evening.
