After the recent relaxation in the Covid-19 restrictions a surge is being witnessed in the number of pilgrims visiting the Badrinath shrine.
A total of 1,60,638 pilgrims have so far visited the temple and the surge in enthusiasm of visitors is showing no sign of any respite despite the setting of winters in the mountains. The media in charge of Devasthanam Board, Harish Gaur said that on Monday a total of 2,819 people visited Badrinath.
The number of pilgrims increased after the government announced relaxation in restrictions from October 5. The portals of Badrinath temple would close on December 20 while portals of Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri have closed for the winters. The Kedarnath temple was visited by 2,42,712 pilgrims this year.
