The leader of opposition in state assembly Pritam Singh has said that there is malice in the intention of the state government on the issue of Char Dham Devasthanam Management Board. Addressing the Teerth Purohits who were staging a Dharna after being stopped by police on Saturday, Singh said that the state government is giving false assurances to the Teerth Purohits and is trying to complicate the issue by forming committees.  Accusing the state governmet of foisting Devasthanam Board on Purohits, the LoP said that the ages old traditions set up by Adi Shankaracharya are being destroyed. He said that the interests of Teerth Purohits and stake holders are being attacked due to which there is resentment among them.

Singh assured that when the Congress party will come to the power it will repeal the Devasthanam board act.

The secretary of Uttarakhand Congress Mahesh Joshi said that BJP government is hell bent on destroying centuries old traditions. He said that the government should leave the stubborn attitude and suspend the board.
