Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the residence of the late General Bipin Rawat in New Delhi and paid his condolences to the bereaved family members on Thursday. Expressing deep grief at the demise of General Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat, the chief minister prayed for peace to the departed souls.
He said that the General’s death is an irreparable loss for the nation and especially for Uttarakhand, adding that it was also a personal loss for him. “He always provided guidance to me as the son of a soldier. His simplicity and accessibility will always remain in our hearts. While interacting with him, one never felt as if one was meeting a General. When I first met him after becoming the chief minister, he had made a plan for visiting my father’s regiment- Mahar Regiment but destiny had something else in store. He will always remain in our hearts,” said Dhami.
