The party would hold protest on issues of illegal mining, unemployment, price rise & corruption

Terming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government as a total failure on all the fronts the head of the campaign committee of Uttarakhand Congress and former chief minister Harish Rawat has said that the party would start a state-wide agitation against the government on the issues of illegal mining, unemployment, uncontrolled prices and rampant corruption from December 18. Addressing the media persons at Congress Bhawan here on Sunday he said that the party is getting a very good response for the rally of former President of Congress Rahul Gandhi in Dehradun on December 16 in Dehradun. He claimed that more people would attend the rally of Gandhi than the rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the same venue recently.
Rawat patted the back of the Congress MLAs for performing outstandingly during the recently concluded winter session of Uttarakhand assembly. He said that nine MLAs of Congress party were like a group of 90 and they cornered the government on many issues. Rawat also accused the government for showing pathetic parliamentary behavior and indolent attitude during the winter session. He said that the Congress MLA performed exceptionally well and exposed the government during the session.  The Congress leader demanded that the government should name the assembly building of Dehradun after Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat.

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Ganesh Godiyal claimed that complaints of corruption in the health, purchase of tablets for college students and cooperative departments are being received by the party. Godiyal said that some officers of these departments are said to be involved in it. He warned that when the Congress party would come to the power it would get the matter investigated and if any scam surfaces strict action would be taken against those responsible.
