Covid-19 surge continues unabated in U’khand
814 new patients reported, sharp rise in positivity rate

The cases of the Covid-19 are continuing to increase in Uttarakhand at a swift pace. The state health department reported 814 new cases of the disease on Friday. On Thursday 630 new cases were reported in the state.
The cumulative count of Covid-19 patients in the state is now at 3,47,912 while a total of 3,31,903 patients have recovered from the disease so far. A total of 7,423 people have died in the state so far. The recovery percentage from the disease has now dropped to 95.40 per cent while the sample positivity rate has increased to an alarming 5.59 per cent on Friday.
The state health department reported 325 new patients from Dehradun, 233 from Nainital, 119 from Haridwar, 35 from Udham Singh Nagar, 21 from Pauri, 14 from Almora, 12 from Tehri, 11 from Pithoragarh, 10 each from Uttarkashi and Bageshwar, six from Rudraprayag and five from Chamoli on Friday.
The state now has 2,022 active cases of Covid-19. Dehradun with 866 cases is at the top of the table of active cases while Nainital has 510 active cases of the disease which is followed by Haridwar district with 316 active cases. Rudraprayag is the only district in the state where the active case count is in single digit ( two) now.
In the ongoing vaccination drive 81,749 people were vaccinated in 1332 sessions in the state held on Friday.
