13 deaths, 884 new cases of Covid-19 reported in U’khand

In an indication that the third wave of the pandemic of Covid-19 in Uttarakhand is on the ebb only 884 new cases of the disease were reported in the state on Saturday. This is for the first time in one month that the daily count of the Covid-19 patients came below the 1,000 figure mark.
However the high mortality from the disease is continuing to cause concern as death of 13 patients of the disease was reported on Saturday while 4,909 patients recovered from the infection. On Friday 15 patients had succumbed to the disease.
The state health department has so far detected 83,867 new cases of the disease from January 1 this year till date. A total of 64,,470 patients have recovered from the disease so far in this year while 191 patients have died in the state since January 1 this year. The recovery percentage of the disease was at 76.87 per cent on Saturday. The positivity rate of the disease was reported at 4.81 per cent on the day.
The authorities reported the death of two patients each at Mahant Indiresh Hospital and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh on Saturday. One patient each was reported dead at Himalayan hospital Dehradun, Subharati hospital, Synergy hospital Dehradun, BC Joshi (DRDO), Central hospital, Nainital, Sushila Tiwari government hospital Haldwani, HN Base hospital Srinagar and district hospital Pithoragarh the day.
The Health department reported 204 new patients from Dehradun, 149 from Haridwar, 102 from Almora, 84 from Rudraprayag,61 from Bageshwar, 53 from Udham Singh Nagar, 52 from Nainital, 45 from Chamoli, 35 from Tehri, 28 from Pauri, 15 from Champawat, nine from Pithoragarh and seven from Uttarkashi on Saturday.
The active case count of Covid-19 in the state is now at 16,599. Dehradun with 7,962 cases is at the top of the table of active cases while Pauri has 2,208 active cases of the disease which is followed by Haridwar district with 2,200 active cases. Uttarkashi is at the bottom of the table with 86 active cases of the disease. In the ongoing vaccination drive 43,444 people were vaccinated in 1392 sessions in the state held on Saturday.
