The Dehradun police returned 70 mobile phones to their owners on Saturday which were mostly lost or stolen in the past few months. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Janmejaya Khanduri informed that these phones were recovered with the help of cyber crime cells and are collectively worth over Rs 10.56 lakh. He said that mobile recovery cells have also been set up in rural and urban areas for the faster recovery of lost and stolen mobile phones.
With the regular surveillance by the police teams, 70 mobile phones were recovered belonging to people of Dehradun and other states like Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi among others and were handed over to their rightful owners by the DIG on Saturday. Khanduri said that the cyber cell takes immediate action on every complaint regarding the lost mobile phones for faster recovery. The police had also recovered the mobile phones worth Rs 28 lakh last year, he added. He also appealed to the people to always report their stolen or lost mobile phones to the police immediately for a faster recovery.
