According to the authorities, the percentage of polling in the State Assembly elections held on Monday was 65.1 based on the data available till late on Tuesday evening.
The accurate polling percentage will be calculated and shared after all the polling parties return to the collection centres.
The Assembly election process involved voting in 11,697 polling booths and about 1.20 lakh personnel on polling duty. Considering the geographical and other factors specific to Uttarakhand, the accurate data was not available till the time of filing this report. There are places reached by polling teams after two days of travel. The travel time has also been affected by the spell of snowfall in the recent past. According to officials, after completion of polling on Monday, more than 9,000 out of total 11,697 polling parties had returned to the collection centres by late on Monday night while the remaining polling parties- about 2,000- from distant areas were to return by late on Tuesday. The polling parties deputed to distant areas which take two days of travelling to reach, are expected to return to the collection centre by late on Tuesday.
Apart from the polling parties, 80,000 officers/employees and about 40,000 security personnel- a total work force of about 1.20 lakh were involved in handling various aspects of the election.
