After getting positive response to the operation of five non-stop Volvo buses between Dehradun and Delhi that reach their destination within four hours, the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) has started 15 non-stop buses on the same routes. The corporation had started the operation of one non-stop Volvo bus from the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Dehradun on the said route from October last year as a pilot project with the number of non-stop buses later being increased to five buses every day by the end of the month.
The divisional manager of UTC in Dehradun, Sanjay Gupta said that due to the overwhelming response of the passengers, the corporation decided to start the operation of 15 non-stop buses from Thursday on a daily basis from around 5 AM to 11:45 PM. He said that these buses reach their destinations within four hours which is quite less than the trains like Shatabdi Express and Jan Shatabdi Express that take at least five hours to reach Delhi from Dehradun. He also informed that two non-stop Volvo buses are also operating from Dehradun to Gurugram at 10 AM and 10:15 PM.
Talking about the fare of these buses, Gupta said that the price of per ticket is Rs 798 which was fixed at Rs 772 during the trial period by the UTC as many tolls on the routes were kept closed at that time due to farmer’s protest and other reasons. Since work in those toll booths has been resumed again, the corporation increased the fare by Rs 26, stated the UTC divisional manager. He further said, “The corporation has started the operations of these buses after positive response of passengers and it will continue to work on making the travelling experience easy and worthy of their time and money.”
