While 14 persons died in a mishap in Champawat, three persons died in a mishap near Kotdwar in Pauri district while two died in an accident in Tehri district on Tuesday. The accident in Pauri district occurred when a group of teachers was going in a car from Kotdwar to their schools. The vehicle fell off the road and down the mountainside resulting in the deaths of three persons. The mishap took place at about 9:30 AM when the car was being driven from Kotdwar to Gumkhal. It is being said that the driver mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake which resulted in the mishap. Two persons were also injured in the mishap.
In Tehri district, an Alto car fell into a ditch near Tapovan (Brahmapuri) on the NH-58 Srinagar-Rishikesh motorway killing two persons and injuring two. The injured were taken to AIIMS Rishikesh while the police took possession of the bodies for post mortem.
At around 11 AM on Tuesday, the car which was being driven from Pavkidevi to Rishikesh, fell into a gorge about 100 metres deep near Tapovan (Brahmapuri). On receiving the information, the police team reached the spot. There were four people in the car. The deceased have been identified as Sanjeev Singh Sajwan and Ram Dayal.
