The Congress which is to sit in the opposition should focus on choosing the leader of opposition because the Bharatiya Janata Party is going to be re-elected to form the government in Uttarakhand. Stating this, the BJP state vice president Devendra Bhasin said that the video of postal ballots which was shared by Congress leader Harish Rawat had earlier been taken cognisance of by the BJP in Didihat. The BJP had complained about it to the district magistrate so the Congress should desist from trying to spread misinformation about it now.
Bhasin claimed on Wednesday that the BJP is winning by a resounding margin in the Assembly elections to break all the past trends in Uttarakhand. In such a situation, the Congress is destined to sit in the opposition. He advised the Congress leaders that instead of among themselves for the post of chief minister, they should rather think about who will be the leader of opposition. Taking a dig at the Congress, he said that even this task is difficult as many senior leaders of that party appear to be losing in their Assembly constituencies. The infighting going on in the Congress has once again come out in the open in front of the public, he said.
Regarding the video on postal ballots shared by former chief minister and Congress leader Harish Rawat, the BJP state vice president said that Rawat and the Congress are attempting to spread confusion in the public. “The Congress should know that in Didihat, the BJP had already raised this issue and complained about it to the district magistrate due to which an investigation is being undertaken to ascertain the truth. However, the Congress has a tainted history. Its leaders are sensing their defeat and the BJP’s victory due to which they are looking for factors to blame for the loss, questioning EVMs at times and then raising the issue of postal ballots,” said Bhasin.
Responding to the statements of Congress leaders regarding BJP leaders and party workers going to Uttar Pradesh to assist in the party’s campaign in the ongoing Assembly elections there, Bhasin said that following the BJP’s organisational system its workers are going to Uttar Pradesh as helpers. Party workers from other states had also come to help in Uttarakhand. Targetting Congress, he said that such is the situation in the party that it is not calling the leader who was the party in-charge in Punjab for the campaign in that state.
