A delegation of Uttarakhand Congress led by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal met the chief electoral officer (CEO) of Uttarakhand Sowjanya on Thursday and submitted a complaint on alleged rigging of postal ballots.  The delegation demanded that the EC should ensure the sanctity of the postal ballots and that the whole process of voting through the postal ballots is transparent. The Congress leaders also handed over a pen drive containing the clipping of a video of Didihat assembly in which the postal ballots were being ticked by one person and someone is heard saying that they should either vote for BJP candidate or independent. The delegation claimed that the video footage clearly shows that the misuse of the postal ballots has occurred and it has also violated the concept of free and fair election of the election commission. Demanding a high level inquiry on the whole issue the Congressmen suggested that it should be ensured that postal ballot reaches the designated person.

The delegation demanded that the process of the voting through the ballot papers of the employees drawn in election duty, physically challenged and senior citizens above 80 years of age should also be made transparent. The Congress leaders said that the EC should take immediate cognizance of the matter and take appropriate steps so that the faith of the electorate in the election process is intact.  The delegation led by PCC president Godiyal included vice president Surendra Kumar, general secretary (Organisation) Mathura Dutt Joshi, spokesman Rakesh Chamoli, general secretary Raghuvir Bisht and others.
