The police arrested two persons who belong to Delhi with counterfeit Indian currency amounting to Rs 6,68,000 in Chakrata on Sunday. Both have reportedly used such counterfeit currencies in the malls and shops in the past too.
The police informed that a car was stopped for checking in Chakrata on Sunday morning by sub-inspector Nikhil Dev. A 51-year-old man Bahar Ahmad and a 42-year-old woman Premlata Singh were in the car and were found in possession of a total of 334 counterfeit notes of Rs 2,000 totaling to Rs 6,68,000, as per the police. Besides this, 148 notes of genuine Indian currency of Rs 50, Rs 100 and Rs 500 notes worth Rs 80,020 were also recovered from their possession, informed the police. The police said that both accused revealed during the investigation that they both are friends and have spent such counterfeit currencies in various shops and malls. According to the police, they both have confessed to bringing such notes from Delhi and were planning to spend them in the Chakrata area on Sunday when the police arrested them. The police informed that the matter is under investigation and they are looking into the criminal history of both accused.
