A team of the Hemukund Sahib management trust headed by chief manager Sewa Singh reached Ghangharia- the main stop on the pilgrimage to Hemkund in Chamoli district. The Ghangharia bazaar and Gurudwara compound are covered in snow. The area around the helipad here is also covered in about two feet of snow whereas the bazaar and area up to the Gurudwara are covered in upto three feet of snow. Singh said that no one has been able to reach Hemkund Gurudwara yet. The route from Ghangharia to Hemkund and Lokpal is covered in snow and blocks of glaciers. He further informed that the army is expected to start the task of clearing the snow from the route from the month of April. The date for reopening of the Hemkund Gurudwara has not been announced so far.
