UP Roadways bus catches fire in Doon

A moving bus of Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) carrying 37 passengers caught fire near Lachhiwala toll plaza in Doiwala area of Dehradun on Wednesday evening. The station house officer (SHO) of Doiwala, Ravindra Singh Koshiyari said that the bus was on its way from Dehradun to Bareilly when it caught fire. He said, “The incident happened around 5 PM on Wednesday. We have been informed that sparks in the engine of the bus caused the fire. The whole bus was damaged in the fire but fortunately, none of the passengers sustained any injuries.” He said that according to the driver, he stopped the bus as soon as he saw smoke coming out of the engine, due to which all the passengers got off the bus before the fire spread in the bus which averted a major accident. He said that all passengers were safe and the police provided all possible help to them.
