The Congress will hold its review meeting on March 21 to discuss the reasons for its defeat in the Assembly elections in Uttarakhand. The party’s State in-charge Devendra Yadav and Avinash Pandey who has been appointed by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) to review and check the organisational aspects will hold this meeting with party leaders. The two leaders will review the party’s performance in the Vidhan Sabha elections and various other aspects in the meeting which some say could have heated discussions considering the blame game already underway in the party and controversial statements being made by senior leaders of the Congress in Uttarakhand.
The Pradesh Congress Committee media in-charge Rajeev Mehrishi informed that all the victorious candidates of the Congress, all the other party candidates and senior party leaders have been invited to this meeting to be held on Monday. Along with a review of the party’s performance in the recently concluded Assembly polls, discussions will also be held on various aspects to make the party organisationally stronger in the state, he added. According to observers, the Congress meeting could see heated discussions considering the rifts that have emerged after the elections among the party leaders. Senior leaders of the party including Pritam Singh, Harish Rawat and Ranjit Rawat have made statements that have stoked the blame game while Ganesh Godiyal recently resigned from the post of Pradesh Congress Committee president following a direction from the party’s national president Sonia Gandhi.
