Eight routes will remain diverted today in view of thousands of devotees being expected to attend the Nagar Parikrama as part of the ongoing Jhanda Mela on March 24. According to the police, there will be a zero zone around Jhanda Sahib and no vehicle will be allowed to go in that direction from the Bhandari Bagh area. The eight routes- Bindal junction, Ballupur, Niranjanpur Mandi, Lalpul, Balliwala Chowk, Saharanpur Chowk, Kishan Nagar Chowk and Matawal Bagh will remain diverted today. The police informed that the vehicles arriving from Balliwala Chowk towards Kanwali Road will be diverted to Ballupur/GMS Road before the arrival of religious procession under Nagar Parikrama to Saharanpur Chowk and no vehicle will be sent towards Balliwala from there. After the devotees reach Bindal, the vehicles from Ballupur, Kishan Nagar and Bindal on their way to the Clock Tower route will be diverted towards Cantt. Once the devotees will enter Paltan Bazaar from Clock Tower, traffic will become normal from Ballupur, Bindal and Kisan Nagar routes. The traffic on the routes from Niranjanpur Mandi, Lalpul, Matawala Bagh towards Saharanpur Road will be diverted to Kargi Chowk or GMS Road once devotees reach Darshani Gate. All traffic will return to normal after the religious procession will reach Samadhi Sthal. The police appealed to the locals and devotees to use alternative routes to avoid traffic issues on Thursday.
