Preparations underway for reopening of Badrinath

The Chamoli district administration has stepped up efforts as part of preparations to be put in place before the Badrinath shrine is reopened for devotees on May 8. District administration officials from Joshimath conducted a site inspection of Badrinath. The sub divisional magistrate Kumkum Joshi directed officials of the departments concerned to ensure on time that all necessary arrangements are completed. The first priority of the administration is to repair the road to Badrinath before the start of the pilgrimage. The task of road cutting is currently underway on the national highway to Badrinath while the road has not been repaired at various locations. The road cutting work is currently underway at Hanumanchatti, Radang Bend, Kanchanganga, Govindghat and near Khachranala on the national highway to Badrinath. Along with this, asphalt is being laid on some stretches of the road at different locations. According to sources, the Border Roads Organisation has been directed to improve the arrangements at places prone to traffic congestion.
