Veteran of two wars breathes his last

An army veteran who had served in two wars breathed his last on Saturday. Narayan Datt Bhagwal who had served during the 1962 India-China war and the 1971 India-Pakistan war passed away at the age of 85 years. The veteran soldier breathed his last in his village Sirmoli Lveshal. Bhagwal had served in the Bengal Engineer Group and retired from service in 1985.

During the India-China war in 1962, Bhagwal was posted in the Aksai Chin area of Jammu and Kashmir while during the 1971 war with Pakistan, he was posted at Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. He was honoured by the army for serving in the two wars. He was living in his paternal village of Sirmoli Lveshal since his retirement from the army. He left behind a family of one son and four daughters. His last rites were held at the cremation ground in Kapileshwar in the presence of a large number of people.
