Maharshi Kashyap Jayanti was celebrated by members of the Kashyap community with enthusiasm across the state on Tuesday. The Akhil Bharatiya Kashyap Nishad Bind Ekta Samata Mahasangh national head Santosh Kashyap and other members of the community paid homage to the sage and distributed sweets at the trijunction near Mahant Indiresh Hospital.
This trijunction is approved to be named after Maharshi Kashyap. Various events were held on the occasion in Haridwar too. Celebrations were held in Ferupur, Bhogpur and Tikkampur villages in Haridwar Rural Assembly constituency while a Bhumi Poojan for construction of a Kashyap temple in Kamalanagar village was held by the youth of the community. A Bhumi Poojan programme for a similar temple in Purwala village was also held on the occasion.
Santosh Kashyap greeted members of the community on the establishment of a statue of Maharshi Kashyap on the Kashyap Ghat along the Ganga in Haridwar and also appreciated members of the community for enthusiastically celebrating the occasion. She also demanded that chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami should declare April 5 a holiday and that Maharshi Kashyap Jayanti should be celebrated at the state level.
