The newly elected speaker of Uttarakhand Ritu Khanduri would participate in the mid-year meeting of the executive committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) in Assam. The meeting would be held from April 9 to 12. She would also take part in the eighth convention of the CPA- India region in Guwahati during her visit.
For the first time in the country the Assam assembly is hosting the mid yearly meeting of the executive committee of CPA on April 9 and 10. In this meeting the president of CPA and 35 members would take part. In the meeting the speakers of Uttarakhand and Assam assembly would take part as representatives of the India region of CPA. The members of Africa, Asia, Australia, British Isles, Canada, Caribbean, America and Atlanta regions would take part in the meeting.
Apart from this the Assam assembly is simultaneously hosting the eighth convention of CPA, India region. This convention will be held on April 11 and 12 in the assembly building of Assam. The convention would be chaired by Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla and the speakers, deputy speakers, leader of oppositions, members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha would take part in the convention. It is pertinent to mention here that CPA is an international community of 180 assemblies and parliaments of Commonwealth countries.
