Identify vulnerable landslides or debris slide zones- DM

The Dehradun district magistrate R Rajesh Kumar has directed the officials of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and Public Works Department (PWD) to identify all such zones across the district which become vulnerable to landslides or debris slide during monsoon season and cause accidents. The DM held a meeting on Tuesday with the officials of various departments after the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami issued directions to all officials to make all arrangements for disaster management before the monsoon season. He has asked the department concerned to nominate their respective nodal officers for disaster management. He also instructed the departments to submit their respective action plans to deal with all disasters likely to occur in monsoon across the district. He directed the officials of municipal bodies, PWD, Jal Sansthan, Irrigation department, Revenue department and police among others to complete preparations for disaster management as per their responsibilities in their respective departments.
He also instructed the municipal bodies to complete the works of cleaning drains in Dehradun and Rishikesh before monsoon to avoid waterlogging and flooding.
He directed to set up an integrated control room at the tehsil level which would operate 24 hours daily.
He also directed to start flood outposts at tehsil levels besides keeping wireless sets at the posts for better coordination among all departments. The DM also ordered the health department and the food department to make adequate arrangements of medicines, ambulances and food supplies respectively as part of their disaster management plan.
The DIG and Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Janmejeya Khanduri, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Kamlesh Upadhyay, regional transport officer (enforcement) Sunil Sharma,, district supply officer (DSO) Jaswant Kandari, district tourism officer J.S. Chauhan, and district disaster management officer (DMO) Deepshikha Rawat were also present in the meeting.
