Health minister Rawat initiates the ‘Jeet II’ programme in the state.
In an attempt to make the state free from Tuberculosis (TB) the Uttarakhand government has decided to constitute a ‘state level TB eradication committee’. This committee would monitor the awareness campaign to prevent the disease, identification of TB patients and treatment of the TB patients in the state.
The health and education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said this while initiating the ‘Jeet II’ project here on Monday. The objective of the project is to make the state free from TB. Under the Jeet II project special campaigns would be undertaken in six districts of the state. The technical support for the Jeet II projects would be provided by CHRI in the districts of Bageshwar, Nainital, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Haridwar and Dehradun under the PMTPT National TB eradication programme. In the remaining seven districts the TB eradication programmes would be undertaken by the health department. Speaking on the occasion Rawat said that district and state level TB eradication committees would be set up in order to achieve the target of TB free Uttarakhand by the year 2024. He said that the government of India has awarded a bronze certificate to the district Rudraprayag for a reduction in cases of TB in the year 2021. Rawat congratulated the team of the health department of Rudraprayag for the achievement. He said that Uttarakhand was placed second in the country in the national TB awareness campaign undertaken in all the health and wellness centres from March 24 to April 10 in the category of states with less than five crore population. The minister also launched the 3 HP medicine for prevention from the TB on the occasion.
The country head of Path organisation and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jeet Niraj Jain said that soon a MoU would be signed with the health department to link the health and wellness centres with modern technology, establishment of mother milk bank for newborn, testing of anaemia and other programme including TB eradication. In the programme the representatives of World Health Organisation (WHO) Dr Ravindra and Dr Pranav shared many information on ways of reducing prevalence of TB in the state.
The director health Dr Shailja Bhatt, director National Health Mission (NHM) Dr Saroj Naithani and other officers of health department were present on the occasion.
