More relief from heat in store today

A spell of light rain accompanied by thunder and wind brought some relief to residents in Dehradun on Wednesday morning. The maximum temperature in the provisional state capital which was nearing 40 degrees Celsius a few days ago is down by a few notches now. Such weather is likely in some parts of the state on Thursday too. The State meteorological centre has forecast very light to light rainfall/thunderstorm at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Thursday. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts.
Dehradun is forecast to experience partly cloudy sky with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 36 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius respectively on Thursday. Meanwhile, the rainfall received in various parts of the State on Wednesady was 19 millimetres in Kanda, 13 millimetres in Berinag and 10 millimeters in Yamkeshwar. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in parts of the State on Wednesday were 33.8 degree Celsius and 22.1 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 37.3 degrees Celsius and 21.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 24.6 degrees Celsius and 12.7 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 24 degrees Celsius and 14 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
