The Char Dham Yatra being held without any restrictions this year after a gap of two years is being facilitated in an orderly manner. Stating this, the Tourism secretary Dilip Jawalkar said that there is considerable time left for the end of the Yatra. Considering this, the pilgrims should not rush in order to avoid inconvenience during the pilgrimage. Talking to media persons here on Friday, Jawalkar said that there were some media reports recently which presented a negative picture of the preparations and arrangement for the Char Dham Yatra whereas this is not factual. He averred that the pilgrimage is being conducted as per the rules in a systematic manner, which is substantiated by the positive feedback being received from the pilgrims. “Considering the higher number of pilgrims expected this year, coordination is being established with the departments concerned to provide all types of facilities to the pilgrims.For the first time, the Tourism department has facilitated the registration of pilgrims which is being done both online and offline. Some days ago, it was seen that some pilgrims did online registration for slots in advance but departed for the shrines on the same day. As a result, the number of pilgrims higher than the capacity of the Char Dham is causing inconvenience to the pilgrims. Pilgrims who are doing so are being checked by the police and being advised to travel on the date of booking. Those who have made advance bookings of hotel and helicopter are getting their documents checked at the checkposts and being sent ahead,”said the secretary.
He further averred that sanitation, drinking water, medical, road, safety and other facilities have been improved on the Yatra routes to prevent any type of inconvenience to the pilgrims. Tourist safety management systems have been fixed on vehicles to enable authorities to trace the location of the travellers, he added.
