Leopard trapped a day after injuring three

A day after three persons were injured by a leopard in self defence, the big cat was caged by the Forest department in Kathur village in Sitonsyun Patti of Pauri district on Tuesday. The trapped leopard was brought to Nagdev range office.The leopard reportedly has injuries on its head suspected to have been sustained in a fight with another leopard. According to sources, on Monday evening the leopard was preying on goats in the village when a woman tried to save a goat and two others came to the woman’s aid. The trio sustained minor injuries in the confrontation while the leopard ran away after people made noise. Nagdev ranger Anil Bhatt said that the department set up a cage and net at the site where the leopard was last seen to have gone into hiding. The big cat was caught on Tuesday, much to the relief of the villagers. The ranger said that the three villagers sustained minor injuries apparently inflicted by the leopard in self defence.
