PM Modi’s vision behind worldwide recognition to Yoga: Dhami

Says U’khand would become the leading state in the country in the fields of Yoga, culture and tourism

The International Day of Yoga was celebrated with enthusiasm in different parts of the State on Tuesday. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a Yoga programme organised by the Ayush and Ayush Education department at Parmarth Niketan in Rishikesh on the occasion . The CM was presented the Ganga Award by Parmarth Niketan on the occasion. Addressing the Yoga enthusiasts who had gathered there in large numbers, the CM expressed his wishes to the people and said that Yoga has reached to every person in the country due to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that PM has also played a key role in the worldwide reach of Yoga. He said that Yoga makes both body and soul healthy if included in daily routine. It changes the direction and condition of the body and positive changes occur in life, he added.

The CM said that the saints have adopted Yoga from time immemorial and it was the secret behind their powers and success. Terming Rishikesh as land of Yoga, religion, culture and Ayush, Dhami said that the message of Yoga from Rishikesh spreads far and wide.

He said that the theme of this year’s International Day of Yoga (Yoga for Humanity) is very apt as it shows that it is not for individuals but for the entire humanity.

CM said that Uttarakhand should become the leading state in the country in the fields of Yoga, culture and tourism and for this the state government is working on the principle of commitment without any alternative. He informed that a roadmap for the next ten years has been prepared by every department of the government. Dhami announced that better facilities than existing would be developed in Rishikesh for tourists.

He said that PM Modi during his visit to Kedarnath last year had said that the third decade of this 21st century would belong to Uttarakhand and on this both the union and the state government’s are working incessantly. Saluting the enthusiasm shown by the thousands of people who had gathered in the programme for performing Yoga, the CM expressed his gratitude towards them. He also took a bath in the River Ganga on the occasion.

In his address, the head of the Parmarth Niketan Swami Chidanand Saraswati said that a message of Yoga is being delivered from the banks of holy Ganga from the capital of Yoga, Rishikesh. He said that Yoga gives a message of Allness and wellness and it connects one person with another. It removes the obstacles from our mind and gives a message of love and faith. Swami Chidananda said that performing Yoga with his family members CM Dhami has given a message that Yoga should be performed with family.

Cabinet ministers Prem Chand Agarwal, MLAs Renu Bisht, Durgeshwar Lal, Rajkumar Porri, Sadhvi Bhagwati, Secretary tourism Dilip Jawalkar, Secretary Ayush Pankaj Pandey, Director General of Police Ashok Kumar, district magistrate of Pauri Vijay Kumar Jogdande, Pauri SSP YS Chauhan, vice chancellor of Uttarakhand Ayurved University A K Tripathi, Padma award recipient Pritam Bhartwan, Basanti Bisht and others were present on the occasion.
