The former CM had said that some leaders in Congress party blame Hairsh Rawat for defeat of Congress
Amid reports that all is not well between former chief minister Harish Rawat and former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh the former CM Rawat has clarified that his recent statement about his adversaries within the Congress party has no connection with Pritam Singh. Rawat had created a storm within the party with a social media post recently in which he said that there are many in the Congress party who in the social gatherings are blaming him for the defeat of the Congress party in the assembly elections. He said that these people are saying that the Congress was winning the election but because of Harish Rawat it lost the election. Rawat said that these leaders should also talk about their own contribution in the elections. He added that the party performed comparatively better in the parliamentary constituencies he had contested or represented in the past. This comment of Rawat was seen as an attack on Pritam Singh who retaliated by stating that the candidates who were successful in the elections won because of the party and their personal effort and not because of any leader.
In an apparent gesture of reconciliation, Rawat on Saturday told the media persons in Dehradun that Pritam Singh has rightly pointed out that the candidates have won because of the party and their own efforts. Rawat however added that there are some Congressmen in Haridwar who are undertaking the campaign that the party lost due to him. “ These are the same people who had termed me an outsider when I contested the Lok Sabha election from Haridwar,’’ he said.
