The ongoing battle between cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat and former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal is continuing to escalate. On Saturday, the director of Uttarakhand State Cooperative Bank Manoj Patwal submitted a police complaint against Godiyal for trying to malign the image of minister Dhan Singh Rawat.
Patwal said that the Godiyal has become afraid of the growing popularity of Rawat due to which is levelling fictitious allegations on him. He said that Godiyal who is losing his political ground is involved in petty politics of mudslinging on Rawat in order to remain in the limelight. Patwal said that the Congress leader has made baseless allegations of corruption in nursing recruitment, Ayushman scheme and in purchase of shares of cooperative banks. He demanded that the police should register a case against Godiyal and take stern action.
On Friday, Godiyal opened a front against Dhan Singh Rawat after the minister directed the chief secretary to investigate the allegations of irregularity and corruption during his tenure as chairman of Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC). A furious Godiyal blamed Dhan Singh Rawat for framing the allegations on him and demanded that the high level inquiry headed by a retired judge of the high court should be ordered in the case. He also dared the government to initiate a similar inquiry against Rawat to investigate the charges of corruption. Godiyal also leveled serious charges of corruption on Rawat.
