Vidhan Sabha speaker and Kotdwar MLA Ritu Khanduri has instructed the district administration to remain in alert mode considering the threat of disaster during the monsoon. She warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found negligent towards work related to disaster management. Khanduri said this while meeting Pauri district magistrate Vijay Kumar Jogdande and senior superintendent of police Yashwant Singh Chauhan regarding issues of the Kotdwar Assembly constituency while visiting the district on Saturday.
Taking cognisance of information about two persons being stranded by the flow of Sukhro river under the bridge, she asked the district magistrate to ensure their safe rescue. The stranded duo was safely rescued. Khanduri said that all the departments should be alert regarding the risk of potential damage by the Sukhro, Kho and Milan rivers along with other mountain streams in the Kotdwar area. Necessary arrangements should be made to tackle any situation, she said.
Khanduri told the district magistrate to ask the Irrigation department, PWD, disaster management, health department, municipal corporation, police and the local administration to be alert. Discussing the development works in the constituency, she enquired about the trenching ground issue, sewerage, sewage treatment plant and bypass road while also issuing necessary instructions. Janata Durbar should be organised in Kotdwar after the monsoon, she added.
