At least 102 roads blocked across State

With rain and landslides continuing in different parts of the State, at least 102 roads were reported to be blocked in different districts on Thursday evening. The maximum number of blocked roads is in Chamoli district where 50 rural motor roads are blocked though the Rishikesh-Badrinath national highway 58 is open for traffic. According to information provided by the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), in Uttarkashi district the Rishikesh-Yamunotri national highway 94, Rishikesh-Gangotri national highway 108 and Vikasnagar-Badkot national highway 123 along with the Gangotri-Gaumukh bridle path are open though the bridle path to Yamunotri was blocked.
Nine rural motor roads are blocked in the district. One State highway and two rural motor roads are blocked in Nainital district while all national highways, state highways and rural motor roads are open in Udham Singh Nagar district. While one rural motor road is blocked in Almora district, one State highway and three rural motor roads are blocked in Dehradun district. Similarly, two rural motor roads are blocked in Pauri district while all national and state highways along with rural motor roads are open in Champawat district. In the Rudraprayag district, the Rishikesh-Kedarnath national highway 107 is open while the Gaurikund-Kedarnath bridle path is also open. The steel girder bridge at kilometre 137 on the Uttarkashi-Tehri-Ghansali-Mayali-Tilwada state highway 15 is damaged with work underway to erect a bailey bridge to facilitate movement of traffic.
Further, four rural motor roads are blocked in the district. In Tehri district, no trace has been found of the four persons who were in a car which had fallen into the Ganga river near Kaudiyala on Wednesday with search operations being continued. Six rural motor roads were blocked in the district. One main district road and six rural motor roads were blocked in Bageshwar district while in the Pithoragarh district the Kweety-Birthi-Munsyari motor road was blocked between Bala and Birthi due to the abutment of the Dwaligad motor bridge being damaged. The Border Roads Organisation has made an alternative arrangement and facilitated a diversion to restore movement of traffic. However, 14 rural motor roads were blocked in the district. The government machinery is working to open the blocked roads.
