91 roads including 4 border roads blocked in State

Due to heavy rains and resulting landslides, at least 91 roads are blocked in various parts of the State. The Pithoragarh district is the worst affected with at least 26 roads including four border roads leading to the Indo-China border region being blocked. Due to this, a number of villages have been left without road connection.
According to the information received from the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) on Wednesday evening, one national highway, one State highway, four border roads and 20 rural motor roads are blocked in Pithoragarh district.
The Tawaghat-Lipulekh road leading to the border with China is among the four border roads blocked in the district.The supply of rations and electricity to a number of villages has been disrupted in the district. In Chamoli district, the Rishikesh-Badrinath national highway 58 is open for traffic though 24 rural motor roads are blocked in the district. The national highways to Gangotri and Yamunotri are open in Uttarkashi district while two rural motor roads are blocked. Similarly, six rural motor roads are blocked in Nainital district and one rural motor road is blocked in Almora district. Eight rural motor roads are blocked in Dehradun district while one rural motor road is blocked in Pauri district. Three rural motor roads are blocked in Champawat district. In the Rudraprayag district the Rishikesh-Kedarnath national highway 107 is open for traffic while on the Uttarkashi-Tehri-Ghansali-Mayali-Tilwada State highway 15, a steel girder bridge is damaged with efforts underway to erect a bailey bridge and restore traffic movement. Three rural motor roads are blocked in the district. Eight rural motor roads are blocked in Tehri district while one main district road and seven rural motor roads are blocked in Bageshwar district.
