Mamta Rawat appointed first State head of ICCC

Mamta Rawat has been appointed as the first State head for Uttarakhand by Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC). The ICCC is a 45-year-old Toronto-based bilateral trade promotion organisation fostering economic and business relations between Canada and India. It is a non-profit, non-partisan organisation. Its programmes and policies foster individual initiative, and the ability of members to make a significant contribution to the economic, cultural and social fabric of India and Canada alike. The ICCC’s mission is to be the premier, privately funded, Indo-Canadian business organisation in Canada by creating business and professional opportunities for Indo-Canadians. It aims to create awareness on the contribution of the Indo-Canadian business and professional community, facilitate business and trade opportunities between Canada and India and foster trade between Canada and India by creating relationships and links between Canadian and Indian business and government organisations.
Hailing from the Baingwari village in Pauri district, Mamta Rawat has been working in various fields like waste management, solar energy, financial management and media. She is a Dehradun-based entrepreneur who has also been active in bringing business to Uttarakhand apart from helping various social causes for girls’ education and education for the under privileged. A multi-faceted personality, she has promoted regional aspirations and culture in various forums. She has recently produced a Garhwali movie “Thokdaar” under her production house. With her experience and knowledge in varied fields she is expected to boost the business opportunities in Uttarakhand. She has held various important positions in quasi-governmental and non- governmental organisations and is well versed with the functioning of government, industry and academic bodies. She is donning many hats at present as president of WICCI Uttarakhand (Culture and Tourism), member of ASSOCHAM Uttarakhand State Development Council, member of Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA), member of Image Management Professionals Association (IMPA) and is also associated with many other important organisations within and outside India.
