Trio arrested for armed robbery

The police have arrested three persons accused of firing and stealing the motorcycle, mobile phone and cash from a worker at Piran Kaliyar in the Ranipur Kotwali area. The police have recovered the stolen bike, firearm, cartridges, mobile phone and cash from them.
On the night of August 19, miscreants had fired at Ataul Rehman and robbed him of his two-wheeler, mobile phone and cash before fleeing the scene. The injured man was taken to the district hospital by the police from where he was referred to AIIMS Rishikesh. Superintendent of police (City) Swatantra Kumar Singh, the accused have been identified as Saharanpur natives Rahul Kashyap, Goldie Singh and Rajasthan native Prayas Meena. During the questioning, it was revealed that the trio had earlier tried to steal a jeep and a motorcycle but did not succeed. They then targeted Reham and escaped with his motorcycle among other items. According to the police, Kashyap said that he was planning to use the stolen motorcycle in an attempt to target a personal enemy of his. The stolen bike had been kept at a secluded spot in the SIIDCUL area from where the trio were planning to take it after the matter cooled down. The police are also checking whether the trio has a past criminal record.
