The Chief Development Officer (CDO) Jharna Kamthan has appealed to the officials and employees of the Health and Education departments to volunteer to be a nutritional messenger to combat malnourishment and undernourishment in children across the district. Kamthan held an inter-departmental meeting on Thursday on the occasion of Rashtriya Poshan Maah that commenced from September 1 to discuss eliminating malnourishment from malnourished children marked by the district officials in six months. She directed the departments to coordinate with one another to work towards this goal. She also appealed to the doctors, teachers and other employees and officials of the health and education departments to volunteer to be a ‘nutritional messenger’ to achieve this goal. She said that the volunteers under this campaign would assist the district administration to bring malnourished children under a category of healthy children by introducing them to paediatricians and doctors as per the requirement. The Women Empowerment and Child development (WECD) department will monitor the progress of children under this campaign. The CDO said that those volunteers who will help in bringing undernourished and malnourished children under a healthy child category will be felicitated at the block, district and state level by the government.
