In latest news from Doon, the Sainik Sahkari Awas Samiti Limited is in the eye of a land scam storm with FIRs having been registered at the Nehru Colony police station against as many as 16 Army veterans of the ranks of Colonel, Lieutenant Colonel, Commandant, Squadron Leader and Major for manipulating the MDDA land layout to create 726 plots in the place of 680 plots approved.  The report filed with the police revealed that the land reserved by the society for building parks, and other community uses aside from keeping a part for open spaces had been fraudulently plotted and sold. In this process, over 18,000 square meters of land, designated for public use, was misappropriated.  The Nehru Colony police registered a case under various sections of the relevant laws while acting on a complaint lodged by a former army officer.

The Sainik Sahkari Awas Samiti Limited was registered in 1967 under the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow with an objective of addressing the residential needs and welfare of soldiers, veterans, and their families.

The allegation further runs that these fraudulently created plots were sold to individuals sans military backgrounds in violation of the society’s regulations. Moreover, these plots were sold at prices lower than the circle rates.

Speaking of the matter, the SSP Dehradun Ajai Singh said that the police have started thorough investigation into the report after registering a case against those named as the accused.
