In a good news for the milk consumers, the Nainital Milk Producers Cooperative Union has decided to reduce the prices of Aanchal milk and milk products from June 25. While addressing the media persons on Saturday, the president of Nainital Milk Producers Cooperative Union, Mukesh Gora said that the prices of Aanchal milk have been slashed by Rs two per litre, ghee by Rs 40 per kilogramme, butter by Rs 50 per kilogramme and curd by Rs 17. 50 per kilogramme.
He said that the decision to lower the prices of Aanchal dairy milk and milk products can be attributed to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the State Dairy Development minister Saurabh Bahuguna having allotted over Rs eight crore to Nainital district under the milk price incentive scheme.
“We are happy with our decision to lower the prices of milk and milk products as the Harela festival is approaching and the tourists are thronging this district from far and wide,” Bora said.
Bora said that Bahuguna has stressed on organising programmes to make the milk consumers aware of the increasing use of chemicals in milk and milk products in the present competitive market. “The fact that over one lakh litres of milk are being consumed daily testifies to the faith the people have in the milk our milk union sells,” he said and added that the milk union was strengthening the marketing network and setting up the cold chain by distributing three refrigerated and three insulated vehicles to 220 regional milk vendors and deep freezers to 338 regional milk vendors. He further said that the milk union is trying by all means to benefit the regional milk producers for the financial year 2023-24.
