Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Jot Singh Bisht has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of embezzling crores of rupees meant for the State’s welfare. He said this while addressing the media here on Thursday.
Addressing the media, Bisht said that the rule of the BJP has caused inflation, unemployment and hunger across the State. Counting the scams allegedly orchestrated by the BJP, he said that in a report of the Compotroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) presented by the Uttarakhand government for 2021-22 irregularities amounting to Rs 18,343 crore in various departments of the Uttarakhand government have come to light. This amount is Rs 7,000 crore more than the interim budget passed in the recently held monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha. In this, the biggest irregularities have happened in the power corporation. Apart from this, most of the departments have been affected. These irregularities happened during the tenure of the present chief minister but everything was managed and even the Congress remained silent on this issue in the Assembly, he added.
Further, he emphasised that the CAG report has revealed the collusion between the BJP and Congress governments in committing corruption. This report states that during the last 20 years, that is from 2005 to 2021 the successive governments of the State have spent an amount of Rs 47,755 crore on various items during their tenure, but in such a long period, even after this, the approval of this amount spent has not been obtained from the Vidhan Sabha. Permission to spend this huge amount which is equal to the one-year budget of the Uttarakhand government, has not been obtained from the Assembly, he alleged.
Considering all the scams orchestrated by the BJP, Bisht said that the AAP demands that legal action must be taken against those guilty. Apart from this, a CBI inquiry should be conducted into the scams. If the government does not do this then the BJP has no right to remain in office, he added.
